Rebirth (Original)

June 27, 2026, Sculpture made of wrapped wire, oven-baked clay, dried flowers, moss, and leaves in a 10×10 wooden panel.

This piece explores the quiet beauty of rebirth and the idea that death is not always an ending but can become the beginning of something new. A clay torso emerges among dried flowers from my own garden and plants gathered from the coastal Oregon landscape, bringing together the human form with the natural cycle of growth, decay, and renewal. The flowers and plants have already passed through one stage of their lives, yet here they become part of something new, preserved and transformed into art. The torso represents the enduring presence of life and the body, while the dried botanicals surrounding it speak to the beauty that can remain after something has died. Together, they reflect the constant cycle of nature: growth, death, transformation, and rebirth.
