“Thornless Rose” on display at the OCCA Member Show 2026

I’m so happy to finally share this — my painting “Thornless Rose” has been entered into the 2026 OCCA Member Show.

The exhibit is presented by the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts and is on view at the Newport Visual Arts Center from March 8 through May 3, 2026. This year’s theme is Hope Rising, and it brought together such a thoughtful range of work from artists in our community.

“Thornless Rose” is an acrylic painting on wooden panel. When I began working on it, I kept returning to the idea of resilience — how strength can be quiet, how beauty doesn’t have to defend itself to exist. A rose without thorns might sound impossible, but to me it represents growth without harm. It’s about becoming something strong and open at the same time.

I’m especially glad to share that proceeds from the sale of this piece will be donated to the Newport Visual Arts Center. This space supports so many artists and brings so much creativity to the Oregon coast. Contributing in this way feels meaningful and personal.

If you’re nearby, I’d love for you to see the show in person. The opening reception is March 8 from 1–3 pm and is free and open to the public. It’s always a great afternoon — good art, good people, and a chance to celebrate local creativity together.
